• Sports Medicine: Sports Medicine is a branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise.
• Total Joints: Total joint replacement is a surgical procedure in which an arthritic or damaged joint is replaced with an artificial joint. The most common types of total joint replacements are hip replacements and knee replacements. Total joint replacement surgery is usually performed to relieve pain and improve mobility in patients who have arthritis or other degenerative diseases of the joints. In some cases, total joint replacement may also be performed to correct joint deformities or to stabilize a fracture.
• Shoulder and Knee Arthroscopies: Shoulder and knee arthroscopies are minimally invasive surgical procedures that can be used to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions affecting the joints. Shoulder and knee arthroscopies are often used to treat conditions such as tendinitis, bursitis, and ligament tears. In some cases, they may also be used to remove foreign objects or repair damaged cartilage.
• Carpal Tunnel: Carpal tunnel surgery is a common procedure to relieve pressure on the median nerve in the wrist. The carpal tunnel is a small passageway in the wrist through which the median nerve and tendons pass. The median nerve controls movement and sensation in the thumb and first three fingers. Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the median nerve is compressed or pinched as it passes through the carpal tunnel. This compression can cause tingling, numbness, and weakness in the hand and fingers. Surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome involves release of the transverse carpal ligament to widen the carpal tunnel and relieve pressure on the median nerve.
• Ulnar Nerve Decompressions: Ulnar nerve decompressions are a type of surgery that is used to relieve pressure on the ulnar nerve. This nerve is located in the arm, and when it is compressed, it can cause pain, numbness, and tingling in the hand and fingers.
• Ankle and Foot Fusions: Ankle and foot fusions involve the surgical connection of two or more bones in the ankle or foot. This procedure is usually performed to relieve pain and improve function in the affected area. Ankle and foot fusions can be performed using a variety of different techniques, depending on the specific condition being treated.
• Fractures: Fractures are a common type of injury, and surgery is often required to repair the damage. The type of surgery will depend on the location and severity of the fracture. In some cases, the bone may be able to be reset and held in place with metal screws or plates. In other cases, the bone may need to be entirely replaced with a metal or artificial bone.
• Debridement: Debridement is the medical removal of dead, infected, or damaged tissue from a wound. It is an important part of wound care as it helps to promote healing by preventing infection and improving blood flow to the area. Debridement can be done using a variety of methods, including mechanical, chemical, autolytic, and surgical. The type of debridement that is used will depend on the type and severity of the wound.
